Two new necklaces are in the shop!

First up is Mr. Fox.ย  He is bright-eyed and (probably) a bushy-tailed little fellow.

The fox is hand painted with colored India inks on a wedge of aspen wood.ย  I like working with these inks, since they are lightfast, waterproof, and permanent.

This chain is a delicate platinum plated one. With this necklace, I also offer silver and gold plated choices.

Here is the bear. I was inspired to create this design from ancient Pictish animal carvings. I worked the illustration in black and silver inks and hung the pendant on a silver plated chain.

The Picts lived in what is now Northern and Eastern Scotland.ย  Their art included beautiful and interesting animals with swirls delineating the curves of their forms.

I’d like to hear what you think of these two new pieces–leave a comment if you get a chance!

This made me smile so much. A fox and bear huh? ๐Ÿ˜‰ They are both lovely. I love your fox (but you know I like your paintings) and I love your Bear because it’s different than your other pieces and calls out to my heritage a bit. I read once that there is a theory of thought that red hair comes from the Picts.. That’s one school of thought at least. I think it was in “The Roots Of Desire; the history and mythology of red hair” (one of my favorite books). Take care.

Mm…that sounds like a book I might just have to read. ๐Ÿ˜‰ And yes, I had you and your clan in mind when I created these…I might have to do a cute little red panda at some point. Thanks for the inspiration. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi honeeee…. I love your artwork…I like the furry animals you paint because they look like they really have fur – so lifelike; I like the bear too I have always liked bears, especially the mama bears with their claws out protecting their little ones ๐Ÿ™‚ and I love you too/mom

    Mom,
I thought of you and the little New Mexican bear symbol (that stands for mother) when I made the bear…I will make that kind sometime, too. ๐Ÿ™‚ Glad you like the animals…I love you too, very very much! ๐Ÿ™‚
