makayla’s bag

Here’s a little ruffled bag I made for Zia’s cousin Makayla, back around Christmastime. Makayla is the queen of all things stylish. I desperately hoped the bag would make the cut.

It did, thanks to the addition of a couple of no-fail elements. #1. Kitties are crucial to making any item Makayla-esque.

#2. A bit of personalization never hurts. Though it’s hard to read in the radiant Kansas sun, I stitched her name on the strap. (Ok, yes, I cheated. I used my new machine’s handy-dandy built-in alphabet font stitch.)

The fabric had a sweetly embroidered pattern. I cut close to the selvedge edge to get a strip for the ruffles without embroidery.

Voila! And it’s off to see the queen!
Hi there! I'm Mia, the mountain girl!
This blog is about the life I'm etching out on this earth: a wild and free life filled with all kinds of fun stuff. Art, sewing, making a garden, creating healthy (and often strange!) things to eat...
