getting ready for thanksgiving

Posted on November 12th, 2012 by mountain girl  |  5 Comments »

The days have been cool here.  David has been working in Boulder, and Caleb had a long weekend off school.  The kids and I have been spending some cozy time in the house–making enchiladas, whole wheat biscuits, and today, preparing pumpkins for Thanksgiving.

We cut, seeded, and roasted 3 pie pumpkins and made puree.  I made pie crusts to freeze, and we finished by roasting the pumpkin seeds.

We are so used to having David home that the days without him seem terribly long.  Zia gets antsy and even teary waiting for him, and we devise ways of keeping things fun–washing dishes and cleaning house against Caleb’s watch timer, taping tails on Zia, and laughing at folks doing the Polish Polka on YouTube.

The woodstove keeps us warm and so do our thoughts and preparations for Thanksgiving–our first with Caleb and Cash!  What are you planning for Thanksgiving–are you visiting family, having visitors, or is it just your own household this year?  I’d love to hear your plans!

My oldest is bringing his girlfriend home for Thanksgiving. Poor child has no idea that she’s entering the looney bin.
