the day before valentines day

On that fateful evening the night before Valentine’s Day, I met him.

We were twenty-something: I was looking for my way in a big, lonely world and he was trying to put the pieces of his life back together.

He was bold and I was shy, and I evaded him for weeks after that night. But it was just the beginning, and things were never quite the same after that February the thirteenth.

That summer we did everything together.  We rode motorcycles and danced in the rain, worked in the garden, ate McDonald’s for lunch in his truck, threw birthday parties for each other, and laughed like crazy.  It was a good summer.

And it’s been an awesome ten years.

Happy ten-years-knowing-you, Boy with the Green Baseball Hat/Man in the Black Cowboy Hat.
