hooded baby blanket

Early last week I found myself with 3 skeins of eucalyptus green cotton yarn. Hmm…3 skeins can make something bigger than a hat or a little sweater. I did a little searching online and found this: a hooded baby blanket.

So I used the eucalyptus, edged it with a skein of creamy cotton I found in my yarn basket, and here is the result. Perfect for keeping a little babe snug.

Zia did some modeling for me.

She is very serious when it comes to posing with my creations.

The blanket was really, really simple…just a big square in stockinette stitch with a triangle sewn on for the hood, edged with a seed stitch border. You could really do any kind of border you want: garter stitch, broken rib, etc.

I liked doing some “mindless” knitting for a change….there’s so much you can do at the same time. We read lots of books, played games, and did projects while this blanket was flying off my needles.

And now it’s tucked safely away until someone tiny is here, and this big girl becomes my right-hand man. We’ll keep that little baby cozy, snug and happy.

    Hannah,
Zia’s birthday is July 10th and mine is the 12th. It would be fun to have coinciding birthdays…but I won’t wish that many extra days on you!

    Auntie Rae,
I wish Madeline lived closer…I’d hire her to model some handmade baby things. She would be a little closer size-wise!
