teo hat

Over the weekend I got out out my needles and cast on for the first time post-baby.  Cash was long overdue for a new hat–lately it’s been a tight squeeze to fit him into the little brown one I knit for him when I first found out I was pregnant.

I’ve had my eye on this Teo Hat pattern for a while now.  I knit it up in the larger size, since I have a soft spot for little people in big hats.

The yarn is a bulky, hand-dyed, handspun merino wool in butter yellow.  My writing mentor Nancy sent it to me with a few other yarns from her stash as a baby gift before Cash was born

and I’ve been looking forward to turning it into something special for my boy.

It’s the first real handcrafted yarn I’ve ever used.  I really liked working with the variations in thickness and color, and I can hardly wait to make something bigger–I have over two skeins left.

{I’m thinking maybe a cute little buttoned sweater.}

The boy?  He’s right at home in his new hat.

Love that Gnomeo babe.
