I won this brand-new book over at Sew Liberated!

Anna Maria Horner is a mother of 6 and an awesome seamstress. I am having a lot of fun going through this book. Like the title suggests, many of the projects are oriented toward new babies, but several of them would suit toddlers just fine…since the clothing sizes go from newborn all the way through 24 months.

There’s a section for expectant/nursing mothers, called Mama Sewing, that features projects such as the Four Corners Blouse. A really cool element for some of us is that all the projects for mothers can be tailored to non-nursing/pregnant moms as well!

Family Sewing is the group of projects that whole families can work together on, such as the Center of Attention Quilt (pictured above in middle). It could be a great way to involve other kids in the preparation for a new sibling!

The last part is called Nest Sewing, and its projects are for the home and baby room. My favorite is the Henny Penny and Six Chicks (pictured above), but there’s also a cool mobile, pillow, nesting cubes, etc.

I really like the layout of this sewing book. There is a large envelope of patterns to trace in the back, but a lot of the patterns have simple enough dimensions that there are instructions only, and you can create your own pattern pieces if you want. The book is bound nicely with large rings for easy use, and the instructions seem very clear, and have detailed drawings as well. I love the photos best of all: they are large, clear, beautiful works of art in themselves (my photos don’t do them justice), and many of them feature Anna’s own rollicking family.

Hmm…kinda makes you want to have another baby, doesn’t it? 🙂
