hiking the indian peaks wilderness

Posted on August 28th, 2013 by mountain girl  |  2 Comments »

We can see the Indian Peaks from our house, and this weekend we hiked them.  Cash started out in the stroller, but we ended up carrying him when the going got rocky.  At 9980 ft., the air was light and fresh, with that slightly giddy feeling (am I the only one feels that?)

The kids had the kind of fun that kids can only have when let loose in the wilderness.  Zia brought her new bike (just bought from a girl in town who outgrew it) and practiced pushing it along.  We came back feeling refreshed and happily tired.  Aw, yeah.  That’s my kind of fun.

Beautiful way to spend the day. Is that mushroom an Amanita? We will be heading out on a hike this saturday with Panda and a few neighbor kids. Be well.
