winter park christmas

Our travels on Christmas Eve took us a couple of hours over the mountains–to Winter Park once again.  It was mostly quiet by the time we arrived.  We walked through town, poked around the little shops, ate at a barbecue joint, and stayed the night at the Viking Lodge.

The next morning we took a little walk (in 14 degree weather) and then headed out of town for lunch.  I love having completely free, open holidays.  As much as we love our families back in NY and New Mexico, we really have a lot of fun just being with each other.

Of course, that’s even more fun when you’re married to a cowboy with cute kids.

We had to endure this view on our way home.  If there really is a Santa, I’m sure we might have seen him flying north just above those mountains.

This year I can relate to the enjoyment of small Christmas, although ours was very different from yours. Something to be said for the slow pace and the intimacy. I’m looking forward to seeing Winter Park this summer!
