hiking and spring snows

Friday morning Zia and I took off for Sourdough Trailhead to do some hiking. We had never hiked there before, but it turned out to be a good trail, well marked, and not overrun with hikers. In fact, we were the only ones on it.

That could have been due to the fact that it was only 35 degrees out. šŸ™‚ But it wasn’t too cold for us to go skipping crazily through the dappled forest.

I spotted this creature on the trail: a hobbit or lorax or something.

I even found its home on the way back. Is that a trap ready to spring on intruders? We didn’t hang around to find out.

The next day the snow came, and the next.

We didn’t get the predicted 2 feet, but we got enough to hang out indoors,

make some paper beads,

and admire one of the last snowfalls of spring (hopefully!)

from our warm house.
