rainboot day

We should’ve known it would rain. In fact, the pine cones told us it would…they were closed up tight. But we didn’t listen. We were on a mission, tramping happily down to the stream to test out a new pair of pink butterfly boots in the deep water.

So when the big drops finally started falling, Zia and I made a beeline for home. It takes about 20 minutes walking fast, so we were drenched by the time we finally got home.

But really, it was so much fun. I’m always happy when I’m forced to walk in the rain, and it makes me wonder why I don’t really walk in the rain on purpose. It feels so good – so cleansing and refreshing. You’re so at the mercy of the rain. It can fall as heavy as it wants, drench you through, and then drench you through again. It’s a wonderful, helpless feeling.

And the boots? They definitely passed the test!
