butterflies and bobcats

The Painted Lady butterflies are hatching!

As of now, 4 of the 5 are out of their chrysalides. Caleb made a sugar water mixture to feed them, so hopefully they’ll find it soon and start sipping.

Last night the kids went out to play and a big bobcat came slinking out from under their playhouse, trotting slowly into the woods. Yikes!

I also saw 2 bushy-tailed coyotes coming out of our woods when I went walking the other day.Ā I was starting to wonder if we would ever see anything here except rabbits and chipmunks. I’m sure now we will see lots of other big animals as time goes on. Key word: see…but hopefully not encounter!

ahhh! I would think a bobcat might be just a little startling. šŸ™‚ Whew! I’m with you, I’d love to SEE lots of big animals, but not necessarily encounter.
