more pie

Apple, this time. Made from a combo of Granny Smith and something red…Gala, I think.

I’ve made so many apple pies in my life, I didn’t use a recipe for the filling…just a pinch of this, a scoop of that. Apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, butter pats.

I did use a recipe for the crust this time…my new favorite, the same Flaky Pie Crust I used on the pumpkin pie. I slathered it in almond milk to brown it, and sprinkled on a little sugar…you know, for the glitter effect.

Definitely flaky, golden, and sparkly.

David devoured it, slathered in whipped cream. Ratio of pie to whipped cream: 1:3.

This was eaten in one sitting. You can see how excited he was by how deep he cut his second piece…right through the pie tin.

Perfect taste of fall.

By the way, the backdrop isn’t a painting.
