the girl who cried bear

I SAW A BEAR!

But…I have no proof (head hangs dejectedly). For once, I went out in the wilderness without my camera.

Here are some animals we see frequently around here, and for these, I did have my camera handy.

Elk.

They are HUGE!

Buffalo. There is a preserve where they roam not too far from where we live.

And, might I add, Buffalo Bill is buried just around the corner. 🙂

Deer – mostly mule deer – are everywhere. Notice their giant “mule” ears?

I really love the wildlife here. We see hawks and eagles, rabbits and coyotes, prairie dogs galore, and more kinds of small birds than I can name. I’ve yet to see a mountain lion, but hey, I’ve got a bear under my belt now. Well, not literally – although David is ready to shoot, skin, and eat the next one we see. I’ll probably just watch that action – but I promise I’ll have my camera ready!
